  • Plantar Fasciitis... I think not!

As some of you might know... late last week, i had woken up with major pain in my left foot.  This is not the first time this had happened.   I remember about two years ago, i had the same issue when i was attending BCC hanging out with my Jeremy, Cho and Vanessa.

Two years later to this very day... this haunts me again.  It has been 4-5 days and the pain has not subsided.  When the first time this had happen, i saw a doctor at the UW Physician's Clinic.  That had diagnoised me with Plantar Fasciitis.  At the time, i had just easily believed them and took what they prescibed to me.  Some simple pain killers and sports excercises helped the pain subside and soon enough... i was walking again.  This time... the pain focus is in the exact same spot but even worse.  I sought the opinion of the orthopedist that checked out my knee when i had dislocated it.  He said the chances of me having Plantar Fasciitis is pretty low.  I agreed with him because i had done my research this weekend to find out what Plantar Fasciitis was.  Plantar Fasciitis is the inflammation of the plantar fascia which is the tissue that connects your heel bone to your toes.

With an inflamed plantar fascia, the area of pain should be in the heel bone.  However, the pain in my foot disagreed in location with the pain of plantar fasciitis.  The orthopedist said that there is a rather high chance that i have a stress fracture in the front of my left foot.  X-Rays usually cannot detect stress fractures because it is not a complete break.  Stress fractures need time to be visible and can only be detected by MRIs, CT Scans or 3-phase bone scans.  Lucky Me.

The doctor has prescribed me to keep as much weight off the left foot as possible.  Standing is a no-no.  For walking aid, he has also prescribed me to wear a post-operational med-surg shoe.

    Oh the fun stuff!
